Feel like just typing AVOID SUBURBS. I prefer to read in a quiet, steady monotone. I dont like when people attend a concert or a reading and say the musician or author is a bad performer because of low energy levels or lack of inflection. I like attending concerts where the musicians barely move and are afraid to look at the audience, in part because I can then focus on the music instead of feeling pressure to also move or to look at things. Feel like just typing AVOID MY READINGS IF YOU DISLIKE HEARING PROSE READ IN A QUIET, STEADY MONOTONE. I try to read things least conducive to zoning out, for example, parts of a book that are mostly dialogue or dont have very long sentences and, based on experience, seem most likely to cause people to laugh. Or I try to read some other thing, like poems or an essay or something, that isnt the book that is currently being promoted for sale at the reading. It seems bleak to me a little to read a book to an audience that has come to buy the book, has already read the book, or will after the reading be perusing the book to discern if they want to buy it. I like QandAs. ; I would rather there only be QandAs; instead of readings, both in terms of my events and me attending other peoples events. Something I dont like about QandAs; is when someone asks a question like what did you eat today? or some other question with a concrete, unique, as yet unknown answer and theres a group of people who view that person or that question as bad or silly or something.

The study conducted by the National Center for State Courts for the Missouri Supreme Court, the one headed by Griller, also concluded that judges who are elected rather than appointed by city councils are better positioned to resist improper influences and job related pressures from politicians or special interest groups. However, that study did not call for elimination of council appointments. Rather it recommended a series of steps to give the state supreme court and presiding county judge greater influence and control over the op eration of city courts. It also recommended that cities be required to have judicial appointment advisory boards, similar to the one that proved so ineffective in Scottsdale. Griller said his organization did not recommend electing judges in Missouri because other groups were already pushing for that. The supreme court justices did not seem prepared to take up that fight, which would require legislation and possibly a constitutional amendment. The national Conference of Chief Justices, an association of top judicial officials from all 50 states, and the Conference of State Court Administrators created a special task force in February 2016 to come up with reforms to address the problems identified in Ferguson. So far, it hasnt issued any recommendations dealing with how cities should appoint their judges, and its final report is not expected until later this year at the earliest. What ultimately needs to happen is that mayors and council members who appoint city judges need to understand that the courts are there to dispense justice, not to raise money, said Maureen OConnor, chief justice of the Ohio Supreme Court and co chair of the task force. As we began work on the issue, it soon became apparent that this is not just a problem in Ferguson, Missouri. Its something that has permeated nationally in our courts, OConnor said in an interview published last year by Judicature, a scholarly journal for judges.
